Funds Granted to Local Beneficiaries
Head for the Cure continued its commitment to grant funds to local and national beneficiaries to support brain tumor clinical research and programs. Even with the pandemic, Head for the Cure’s supporters showed up in a major way, raising nearly $2.2 million, which makes 2020 the third-largest fundraising year in our history. In 2020, we granted $734,500 to different local beneficiaries located across the country from our 5K Run/Walk events to support their brain cancer research or programs. We also granted $200,000 to the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative.
Our primary scientific partner, the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative (BTTC), through the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is a network of top cancer centers dedicated to designing and performing state-of-the-art clinical trials in a collaborative and collegial environment, advancing treatments for patients with brain tumors, merging good scientific method with concern for patient well-being and outcome.
